Ultra4 Australia - Official Statement

Ultra4 Australia – Official Statement

Following a review of recent races and on-track incidents, Ultra4 Racing Series has conducted a formal assessment of race management and conduct across Ultra4 Australia events.

The following rulings and clarifications are effective immediately:

Track Limits & Course Conduct

A time penalty has been issued to a team for exceeding track boundaries during Race 2 on Saturday, 7 March 2026, including breaking bunting and leaving the designated course.

This incident serves as a FIRST AND FINAL WARNING to all teams competing in future events:

  • Deliberate breaking of bunting is strictly prohibited.

  • Exceptions apply only when directed by a Marshal or Recovery Crew, and only after Race Control approval.

Failure to comply will result in immediate penalties.

Incorrect Course Usage

Driving incorrect lines (e.g. UTV-only sections) will now result in escalated penalties:

  • 1st Offence: No lap recorded

  • 2nd Offence: Disqualification from the race

Winch Safety – ZERO TOLERANCE

DO NOT RUN OVER LIVE WINCH LINES.

This includes all winching scenarios—recoveries, rollovers, or assisted pulls.

  • Any team found driving over a live winch line will receive immediate disqualification.

  • This rule exists to protect drivers, navigators, marshals, and recovery personnel from serious harm.

All teams must:

  • Be aware of winch line placement at all times

  • Look for dampeners as visual indicators

  • Communicate clearly if unsure of line positioning

On-Track Recovery Protocol

  • If a vehicle is blocking the track while winching and no safe bypass exists without breaking bunting, competitors are expected to assist once safe to do so.

  • In many cases, a controlled bump may resolve the situation—confirm before acting.

  • If your vehicle has rolled, you are required to recover your own vehicle.

Ultra4 Recovery crews will:

  • Assist with anchor points where required

  • NOT recover vehicles

Your navigator must control all recovery operations.

External recovery assistance (non-official):

  • Results in race termination

  • Your last completed lap will be recorded as your finish result

  • For shootout/super stage formats: DNF

Final Lap Procedure Update

A revised approach is now in effect:

  • Teams nearing their time limit will be shown a white flag, indicating a final opportunity to complete another lap.

  • Decision-making now rests with the team.

If you receive the checkered flag but believe you can complete another lap within the session time:

  • You may proceed at your discretion

However:

  • Teams must be mindful of session timing

  • Excessive delays impacting event operations will not be tolerated

Ultra4 Australia is committed to maintaining fair, competitive, and safe racing conditions for all participants.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in strict enforcement of penalties moving forward.
